Water rates
Ordinary water use is included in general rates, but metered or excess use is billed separately.
Based on Waitomo District Council's own published information: extraordinary/metered water usage above 292m³ per SUIP has its own due date — the 15th of the month following invoice, billed monthly or twice-yearly depending on the reading period.

Penalties for paying late
“Pursuant to sections 57 and 58 of the Local Government (Rating) Act 2002: a 10% penalty charge on any part of an instalment that remains unpaid after 5pm on the due date, added on a specified penalty date for each instalment; a further 10% penalty on any rates assessed before 1 July 2026 that remain unpaid on 1 July 2026, added 6 July 2026.
