Penalties for paying late
“"A 10% penalty will be added (on the penalty date as set out in the table above) to the unpaid balance of an instalment that is not paid by the due date... A 10% penalty will be added on 16 July 2026 to any unpaid rates from previous financial years that remains unpaid on 15 July 2026. Another 10% will be added on 14 January 2027 to any unpaid rates from previous financial years that remains unpaid on 13 January 2027."” — Manawatū District Council's own wording.

Dog Registration page: 'You are then required to renew your dog's registration by 1 July each year' and, under 'Renewing Your Dog's Registration': 'You must renew your dog registration before 1 July each year.' The Animal Control Fees page's own 2026/27 table instead prices registration on a discounted/standard two-tier basis: every dog-registration fee category is split into 'Discounted fee if paid before 1 August' and 'Standard fee if paid after 1 August' -- e.g. General registration $134.00 (before 1 Aug) / $198.00 (after 1 Aug). The same page separately states: 'Note: Infringements will be issued for all outstanding registrations after: 31 Aug 26' -- a third, later date for formal infringement action, distinct from the fee-tier cutoff.
